Q1:从2024年开始,6G大会的一个重要焦点是“全行业共同定义6G”。这一理念不仅强调核心通信技术与人工智能、计算能力和传感的集成,还强调跨部门协作,以确保未来的6G网络有效地满足行业需求。您如何解读这种“跨行业协作定义6G”的趋势?

Tony QuekOne of the key motivations of 6G is to support new services and use cases beyond traditional communication such as integrated sensing and communication, XR/immersive communication and AI-based services. It will then be possible for telcos to create new revenue streams by monetizing network capabilities and support diverse applications across industries.


Q2:您是否已经在您的研究中开展或参与了任何跨行业合作?如果有,能否分享一些相关经验?
Tony QuekAs a working group chair for AI-on-RAN in AI-RAN Alliance, my focus is to explore diverse AI applications and to understand the different radio requirements and interfaces. Thus, I have been working on different AI applications with industry partners as well as research projects.

Tony QuekThe need to understand challenges in migration from old standards, architectural complexity, deployment challenges/cost as well as to fully understand the motivation of 6G. Without such deep understanding, the 6G research developed from academic and research settings will find little room to be implemented in practical 6G networks in the future.

Q4:将实验室中的创新与产业应用连接方面,您是否有相关经验或心得可以分享?
Tony QuekAs an academic, I have been attending Mobile World Congress Barcelona every year to fully experience the industry trends and the latest innovation in the industry. Without such experiences and close interactions with industry partners, research done at labs and universities may be shuttered from what is out there in the industry. In addition, I have also participated in industry alliances as a speaker, panel and working group chair. This will keep me up-to-date with the industry standards and help to shape my own research so that it has value for industry applications.
